PB In Memoriam

Following the death of Pierre Boulez on Tuesday, I thought I'd share this SFE track (from the 2007 Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival) with you. The mini-concerto for flute and saxophone is an 'exploded view' of part of 'Le Marteau Sans Maître'.

Whilst one could disagree with Boulez about many things, he was part of that great wave of modernists who (in provincial England in the early 1970s) appeared to represent an exciting anti-establishment threat. Now they are all gone...
